In Brevard County, many families face tight budgets and shrinking library hours; classroom libraries are stretched thin and summer reading loss is real. When a child doesn’t have books at home, they fall behind before the next school year even begins. We’re asking for help to put high‑quality, age‑appropriate books directly into the hands of children who need them most.

With your support we will purchase, catalog, and distribute 6 new books a year for 2,000 pre‑K through 5th grade students across West Melbourne. By buying the books wholesale, we expect the price to be less than $6.50. We’ll partner with local schools and after‑school programs to ensure books go to children who lack home libraries, and we’ll run reading sessions so every book becomes a shared experience, not just a handout.

Research shows that access to books at home improves vocabulary, school readiness, and long‑term academic success. For every 100 books we place, we expect to reach 60–80 children and their families, increasing reading time at home and boosting confidence in the classroom. We’ll track distribution, collect teacher feedback, and publish a short report with photos and stories so donors see exactly how their dollars were used.
